And now, which wedding dress will I choose ????

The biggest headache for the bride-to-be is her dress, at the most important moment of her life. It is neither the hair, nor the makeup, nor all the clutter of those that involve in a wedding. As things have become much simpler today and you can choose civil marriage, all the procedures of an open religious marriage are minimized. Even your dress is different and simplicity is a must. In my personal opinion- and by no means you are not obliged to accept it and especially to apply it- is not to overdo it. Apart from the fact that this is a garment that you will not wear again (unless you are obsessed with… heirlooms) -if and if it is "heavy" -it will bring you a little loss in the closet and in addition, in case something goes wrong well along the way (oh no genius), you will throw it away. Listen to what I tell you, become more practical. Or just do it differently. Anyway, the surprises are expected ...

You definitely want something different that day. You definitely have to shine, with your own, unique light. But, above all, you want to live your own moment, without thinking about anything else. Neither the decoration of the church, nor the guests, nor the greetings, nor the receptions. So, you have to choose the style of dress that will make you stand out, not the model you saw in that illustration wedding magazine.

Tip one: look in the mirror, without complexion. It's you and only you. Are you an apple, a pear, an hourglass, or a rectangle? Based on body type, you can categorize the wedding dresses you want to try. Or, alternatively to sew. I will not tell you what to do, but remember that you can even rent a wedding dress.

The above categorization of body types, doesn't mean that the freest options are excluded, especially in the most airy wedding dresses. But the tighter the wedding dress, the more problematic your comfort in movement. Remember the golden rule: the dress should suit you, not vice versa.

So, take care of the following:

  • just how expensive? see your budget

  • what time/season are you marrying

  • how do you want to get married (in a civil or religious marriage)

  • who you are (directly related to the style of the wedding dress)

  • what will your groomwear wear (it is beautiful to be harmonious)

  • consult the specialist (probably your seamstress, she knows ...)

  • see if the wedding dress ties in with your shoes and make sure you walk properly

What to avoid:

  • anything that makes you look and feel heavier

  • the intricate quaff with the veil together (something will pull you backwards)

  • if you can, choose a wedding dress without a tail (I was constantly pressed and I was in danger of falling down)

  • don't be so serious (ok, it's not the end of your world)

  • the continuous laugh (not exactly so appropriate in a mystery)

  • excessive hairstyles

  • excessive makeup

Which wedding dresses I would avoid:

So nude, that it is embarassing. Keep it for elsewhere..

2. Νo, you are not a bonbonniere (sorry ...)

3. No, I don't think so...

4. Pasee! Find something else.

5. You can understand that this is out of the question...

6. Why should a cool girl wear something like that? Symmetry is lost...

7. Say yes to vintage, but choose the right one. This dress, isn't what I had in mind...

Keep in mind- no matter how alternative you are- you will not wear black, purple or orange wedding dress. In case you insist, there are some alternative soft colors for the occasion. Well, It is not a matter of tradition, it is a matter of inadequacy. Put on your white wedding dress and then at the reception, wear whatever comes down to you. I accept everything, even a wedding dress with wellies because you insist on being a grunge girl, but not black !!!!

Now let's go to the exhausting part: choosing from thousands of models, what you "think" is made for you. They say you have to try on many bridal dresses to choose ONE. I say that for all cases, "love at first sight" applies. And usually, this is true. Most likely, if you try on a few hundred dresses, you will not end up anywhere. Seriously now, will you stand it? I will suggest ideas here and only YOU will decide and YOU should enjoy your moment.

Brigitte Bardot looks so fragile in this wedding dress, for the needs of the movie "And God created the woman". Short, strict and 60s.

Audrey Hepburn, from the movie "Funny face", 1957. The perfect image of a ballerina at her wedding.

Natalie Portman as princess Leia, from Star Wars movie with the ultimate vintage wedding dress and elaborate headpiece- handkerchief, looks like she came from the fairy world ...

The tender face of the young princess Sissi (Elisabeth of Austria), with the unforgettable Romy Schneider. Wonderful wedding dress bodice. Study it and borrow its strengths.

Ann Hathaway in a Valentino Garavani wedding dress. How much more elegant could a dress be for your own wedding? The vintage references are obvious.

In the role of Arwen (character from the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy), Liv Tyler from the land of elves, wears her medieval wedding dress and gives us great ideas.

Cate Blanchett recommends us to get the glow of the elf queen, through this wonderful white dress-cloak of medieval inspiration. It would be great as a wedding dress and pay attention to the correct transparency and the special tiara of the elves.

... and everything that adorns your head, is proportional to your dress

grecian style - because you adore the ancient greek beauty

charleston vintage -because you are romantic

boho & hippie- because you love the memories of the 70s

tiaras- that's you, a princess

Always remember that the tiara is a decorative element, so the more discreet, the better.

See you in the next post and do not stress. The most beautiful bride is the cool bride!
